Stella Maris Academy of Davao (SMAD) participated in the Gallery of Saints Year 5, held from November 10 to 17, 2024, at the Atrium of NCCC Mall VP, Davao City, with the theme: “Praying Together with the Saints.”
This meaningful annual celebration of faith and inspiration was organized by the Davao Verbum Dei Media Foundation, Incorporated, home of Davao Catholic Herald and DXGN 89.9 Spirit FM. It showcased a stunning array of saint displays, offering visitors a sacred space for prayer and reflection.
As one of the official exhibitors and Mission Partners, SMAD humbly featured an exhibit of Saint Candida Maria de Jesus, the school’s foundress. Visitors were invited to learn about her life and legacy through informative pamphlets beside her image.
Adding to the vibrant festivities was the Divine Cosplay Contest, where participants dressed as their favorite saints, showcasing creativity and devotion. Notable portrayals by the Marisians included: Elijah Arkin Canopen (Grade 6 St. Ignatius) as St. Ignatius of Loyola; Glenn Theo Cristines (Grade 6 St. Lorenzo) as St. John Vianney; Faye Nathena Albao (Grade 8 Integrity) as St. Joan of Arc; Lian Gail Ilagan (Grade 10 Piety) as St. Maria Goretti; and Alexander Uy (Grade 10 Patience) as St. Sebastian.
The Gallery of Saints Year 5 was a remarkable testament to the enduring relevance of the saints’ lives and teachings. It served as a moment of inspiration, encouraging all attendees to deepen their faith and emulate the virtues of the saints in their daily lives.
SMAD’s participation exemplified its commitment to its mission of fostering spiritual growth and spreading the charisms — filiation and fraternity — of St. Candida Maria de Jesus.
